DUDE Summer League 2010
It's time again for Summer DUDE! As always, this league is a fundraiser for the UCSD men's team, the Air Squids. The Squids are fresh off their trip to the College Nationals tournament - where they not only held seed, but beat top-seeded Oregon along the way! Go Squids!
The format is coed 7-on-7 grass field ultimate.
We play by USA Ultimate 11th edition rules, unless otherwise noted.
All games are held at Muir Fields on UCSD's campus (see map)
No alcohol, glass containers, or dogs are permitted. Please respect these regulations so that we can continue to play there in years to come. Street parking can usually be found along La Jolla Shores Drive, and side streets.
Games are Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday nights from 7:00-8:30 or 8:30-10:00
After the games are over, everyone is encouraged to head over to the official post-game spot - Porter's Pub - for food, drinks, and karaoke! (see map)
Registration costs $55 per player.
We understand this is a $10 increase over two years ago and prior. UCSD has changed its policy and is now mandating that the league has insurance, which costs $10 per person. Registration lasts until June 27th, or until we have 216 players. If space allows, late registrations will be accepted with a $10 late fee. Your registration fee gets you:
- 11 regular season games (6/29, 7/1, 7/6, 7/8, 7/13, 7/20, 7/22, 7/27, 7/29, 8/11, 8/12)
- 2 playoff games (8/17, 8/19)
- Tournament (8/21)
- Team jersey from Spin Ultimate
- League disc
- End of season BBQ
Let us know if you're interested in being a team captain.
During the registration process, you'll be asked whether you'd like to captain a team. As a captain, you'll be in charge of communicating league information to your team.
It's OK if you can't make all of the games.
We know you're probably a very popular and successful person with tons of exciting ways to spend your weeknights. That's OK! The team rosters are big enough to allow for some absenteeism. In fact, we've built in a schedule into the registration process. When you register, just select which days you will be unavailable, and we will make sure to take that into account when making the teams. Technology!
New players are welcome.
We want to make sure that everyone has fun, and that everyone learns a little something about ultimate along the way. Every team will have the full range of skilled players - from complete novices to superstars. Don't hesitate to join in on the fun just because you've never played before.
How do I join?
Firstly, create an account. (Note that we started using a new website this past winter. If you didn't sign up in winter 2010, you'll need to create an account.) Once you've gone through the account creation, log in and join the league. You'll be prompted to pay for your league registration via Paypal, or via check/cash. That's it! We'll take it from there.
After registration closes on June 27th, we'll create the teams. Everyone will be placed on a team according to his/her ability, so please be honest in rating yourself. It will help us determine the most evenly matched teams.
Your captain will then email you with all the information you need.
If you have any questions about the league, you can email us at dudesummerleague@gmail.com
