Games tonight
Teams are made. Log in, and you should see your team listed at the top of the page; this is your "My Team" page. This page should have all of the info you need for tonight, including a map to the fields. Once logged in and on the "My Team" page, you can click on "roster" to see your teammates, or "games" to see your schedule. The schedule has only been set for the first week - we'll post the rest soon.
For tonight, show up a few minutes before your game is scheduled to start. Bring your cleats, a light and a dark, and be ready to have some fun!

Summer League is here!
After a spring haitus, DUDE is back for the summer!
Summer league will be limited to 12 teams of 18 people per team; the first 216 people who sign up will be able to play. It is first come, first serve, with no exceptions. No baggages are going to be accepted this year because we’re keeping the hat tourney format so each team will be equally matched for greater competition.
Registration closes June 27th, so hurry!

Antarctica Freeze Takes Home the Gold
Sometimes the top seed wins. That's the way it went down in the NCAA finals, and that's the way it went down at the 2010 Winter DUDE tournament. After finishing 6-1 in the regular season, team Antarctica Freeze went undefeated in the tournament this Saturday, beating the New Zealand All Blacks in the final matchup. Congratulations to the team, and to captain Alan Marquardt and co-captain Steve 'Foca' McDonnell! Just remember, revenge is a dish best served cold!

The Coronado Olympic Torch has been lit!
Despite the soggy weather here in San Diego, we, your team captains, have managed to kick off our Opening Ceremonies and light our Olympic Torch. ( See the torch along it's journey... to Coronado?) We have braved the elements and gathered from far and wide - New Zealand, The Czech Republic, and good old Mother Russia to name a few - to set up teams and get this Coronado Olympics started.
The first round of games is set for this Saturday, January 23rd. All the specific information you need about winter league can be found on the 'My Team' page after you log in. Here you will find directions, league rules, your team roster, and more.
If you're concerned about the games being cancelled, just check back here after 8:30 on the morning of the game, and we'll have a nice big green or red banner telling you whether games are on or off. (Hint: they'll be on unless the whether is extreme.)
See you on the beach!

Last Chance to Register...
Wasn't Lei Out a blast? Don't you want to play beach ultimate this winter? Isn't San Diego awesome?
Our winter league still has a few spots open!
We're already hard at work behind the scenes formulating teams and planning an awesome season! We know there are still a few stragglers out there who want to play, so we've extended our registration window. Late registration is now open, but the absolute last day to register is Friday, Jan 22.
After registration closes, you can still "pay to play" on a weekly basis. Each week, let us know you're interested in playing and for $5 we'll have a spot for you that Saturday on a team whose roster is a little light.
But to get the full DUDE treatment, with your very own team and very own jersey, sign up!

Winter League is here!
The best athletes in the world may be gathering in Vancouver this winter, but San Diego's ultimate players are headed to Coronado Beach. That's right, it's an Olympic-themed winter league! Join us every Saturday morning this "winter" starting January 23. Remember, a San Diegan Winter Olympics is not quite as ridiculous as a Jamaican bobsled team, and we all remember how well that turned out!

2010 DUDE disc design
Do you like to design things?
Do you like to play ultimate frisbee?
Do you like to... wait for it...
Design ultimate frisbees?!
DUDE is looking for a disc design for its 2010 season. The design should be simple, with a touch of San Diego flair, and just plain awesome. It should probably say DUDE on it somewhere. Just a suggestion.
It could be something like this logo shown above. Or it could be completely different.
The process most often used for printing is called hot stamping. There are some general guidelines for designing artwork for hot stamping on a disc:
- 6.75 inch diameter circle at 300dpi or more
- one color design (two or three can be done, but cost slightly more)
- no thin lines or super pointy shapes
- no large, solid areas of color
If you have a good idea but need help translating it to reality, you can let us know that too! The deadline for all submissions is Feb 1, 2010.
Submit your designs, sketches, or ideas to dudeultimate@gmail.com. If we end up using your design, you get a free disc, and bragging rights! And just in case it isn't clear: all submissions become the property of DUDE for use on the website and discs.
