2012 Club Season

Club season is upon us. Culminating in 16 teams per division playing for the National Championship in late October, the season is beginning for many teams.

After a nearly perfect season, Darkwing Duck took first place over Scrooge McHuck. Congrats!

Season update

You might be curious what the rest of the season looks like. Well, here it is!

There's a regular season game next week, on 3/31. The week after that, on 4/7, is the tournament.

The tournament is from 10am - 2p, and there will be BBQ, food, drinks, and fun. The tournament will be seeded according to regular season results, but every team will have a shot at winning it all!

In other news, we got our league shirts today. If you didn't get your shirt yet, we'll have it for you to pick up next week.

And one last thing - pay up! If you haven't paid yet, bring $35 cash or check, or paypal it to dudeultimate@gmail.com.

Remember, if there's ever a question due to weather, check out this site on game day. We'll post a large RED or GREEN banner by 8:30am stating whether the game is on!

Bye week

There are no games this week, February 4th. So sleep in, start your superbowl prep early, or sink into the sofa to watch some actual Saturday Morning Cartoons. Call it "research" for coming up with a baller team name. Next games are February 11th.

Teams Posted, Rain Cancels Game 1

The good news is that your teams have been posted. Log in, go to your "My Team" page, and check it out.

The bad news is that we've cancelled the first week of games due to 90% chance of rain all Saturday morning, with temperatures in the 50s. Let's face it - we're all San Diego wimps and don't like playing in the rain.

Your captains should be in touch this week!

Winter League Starts Saturday

Registration is closed, and we're hard at work setting up teams. The process is very sophisticated and mysterious. All they even tell me is that it involves cut-outs of all your faces, a huge dartboard and some razor-edged discs. It's all pretty dangerous, actually. Wish us luck.

Teams will be announced Saturday morning. Therefore, bring a white shirt and a dark shirt.
You will get your team assignments when you show up at 9:30am Saturday. That's this Saturday, January 21st. Saturday. This Saturday. Two days from today. Saturday. Since you won't know what team you're on in advance, be prepared to play as either dark (blue/black/green work best) or white. No gray shirts!

All games are held at Coronado Beach. (see map)
No alcohol, glass containers, or dogs are permitted. Please respect these regulations so that we can continue to play there in years to come.

Street parking can usually be found along Ocean Blvd, or very near by.

After the games are over, everyone is encouraged to head over to the official post-game restaurant, Danny's.

All games START at 10am.
This is not "ultimate time"! Games will start promptly at 10. Show up around 9:30 and enjoy breakfast snacks provided by the league.

League rules

• BULA 4v4 rules unless noted
• 4v4, offense calls 1/3 or 2/2.
• 7.5m/31m/7.5m x 27m wide
• inverted pulls
• no two pointers
• stall 6
• best of 3 games to 11, win by 2, hard at 13
• 1 timeout per team per game, plus a short half at 6 unless both captains decline
• no foot blocks

Raining? Games are probably STILL ON!
We're on the beach, so unless the weather is really nasty, we're probably still playing. Check the homepage if there's any doubt. There will be a large RED or GREEN banner stating whether games for that day are on. This call will be made by 8:30am on gameday.

Bring a friend
Pay-to-play any day! Email us to let us know you are interested in coming, bring $5, and we'll place you on a team that will be glad to have you. This is a great way to introduce your friends to the sport.

Two More Summer League Nights

We've just added two Wednesday nights to this year's summer league: August 3rd and 17th. Individual team schedules will be updated soon. For now, just know you'll have a game those nights.

Summer league will be limited to 12 teams of 18 people per team; the first 216 people who sign up will be able to play. It is first come, first serve, with no exceptions.

San Diego Mixed Ultimate Tournament: 72 and Sunny

Q: What's the weather like in San Diego?

We just got some information from our friends over on On The Rocks about an upcoming Mixed tournament this summer:

On The Rocks is pleased to announce San Diego's mixed summer ultimate tournament, 72 and Sunny!

This coastal tournament will be played on grass, close to the Pacific. We're expecting teams from everywhere to come join us for two incredible days of ultimate in San Diego's perfect weather on August 13th and 14th. We're looking for 16 mixed teams.

To attend 72 and Sunny please email your team name, location, and history. We will be accepting bids until late June and will get back to teams shortly thereafter.

A tournament website will be live shortly. In the meantime email us with questions.

Winter League is over: Now what?

There are a variety of club teams here in San Diego that are gearing up for the competitive season. We've just posted lots of info about tryouts for each team. Get in contact with the captains and good luck out there!

Tourney Time
